TESTIMONIALS

“I recently had the pleasure of working with Yolanda on a television project, and I was genuinely impressed by her sharp eye for detail and storytelling instincts. She not only tightened the structure and improved the pacing, but because she is also a sublime writer she was able to make suggestions to dialogue that elevated the entire piece. Yolanda thrived on bringing out the cinematic potential of the story in a way that made the whole piece more impactful, whilst never neglecting the emotional beats. Her feedback was passionate, constructive, and always respectful of my vision, making the collaboration both productive and enjoyable. I’d highly recommend her editing skills to anyone looking to take their script to the next level.”

- Corrie Chen is an award-winning director and writer. Her directing credits include: Good Cop/Bad Cop (CW), The Artful Dodger (Disney Plus), Bad Behaviour (Stan) and New Gold Mountain (SBS/Sundance Now). Corrie is a two-time Australian Directors' Guild award winner, and a two-time AACTA directing award nominee.

“What I value most about Yolanda as a script editor is the care and passion she brings to each project. She takes the time to understand your vision and where you want to take your script, and then provides you with specific tools, feedback and ideas to get you there. From many years of experience working at the highest level of the film and TV industry, as both a writer and director, she brings a unique cinematic vision and a wealth of knowledge about genre and structure. She has a knack for reading a scene and offering suggestions that elevate the dramatic potential. Her advice isn’t rigid or dictatorial, she’s used to pitching ideas and pivoting and this shows in the way she raises issues and talks about solutions. She is skilled at identifying flaws in a manuscript but also diagnosing the root cause. She is a joy to be around and a real talent.”

- Brooke Goldfinch is an award-winning writer and director. Her short film, Red Rover, earned "Best Director" at Sydney Film Festival's Dendy Awards, Flickerfest and St Kilda Film Festival. The project went on to be nominated for an Australian Writers' Guild and an Australian Directors' Guild award.

“Yolanda is more than a script editor; she’s a story advocate. I was lucky enough to work with her on my film Self Love, and beyond all the essentials you’d expect - structure, pacing, character, dialogue - she brought a deep sensitivity to what my story was really trying to say. When it comes to thematic backbone, Yolanda is the Eye of Sauron - she sees absolutely everything. Her questions were smart and tough in the best way, always pushing me deeper into the work while staying totally collaborative and respectful. Her notes were clear, practical, and full of insight. And because she’s such a brilliant writer herself, her suggestions genuinely elevated the piece without ever imposing her voice. I can’t recommend her highly enough."

- Jeremy Brull is an award-winning director and writer. His script, Self Love, won first place in the "Short Film" category of the Slamdance Screenplay Competition in the US. His online series, The Justice Lease, won awards for "Outstanding Series", "Direction" and "Writing" at LA Web Fest, as well as awards at Melbourne Web Fest.

"Yolanda has a genuine dedication to helping writers capture the best possible version of their story. Her notes push far beyond generic quick-fixes, always inviting the writer to dive deeper and explore less traversed and more nuanced ways of storytelling. She has a wonderful grasp on character and structure, as well as world building and genre - making her an incredibly valuable editor that any writer would be lucky to collaborate with."
